Removal of Copper from Wastewater

Sorbster Media - Copper removal from wastewater

Sorbster® Cu-1 is a promoted alumina media which covalently bonds soluble copper to its active sites. Sorbster® Cu-1 is to be used in applications requiring the removal of copper only from wastewaters.

The MCLG for copper is 1.3 mg/L, or 1.3 ppm.

The EPA has set this level of protection based on the best available science to prevent potential health problems.

Features and Benefits

• Cost effective media for applications specifically formulated for the removal of copper from waste water

• High macroporosity Sorbster® Cu-1 provides an adsorption capacity of up to 50 percent of its weight

• Effective for trace and mg/L copper concentrations in one pass

• Sorbster® Cu-1 required contact time is 50 percent less than competing media, resulting in a smaller equipment footprint and lower capital costs
Rapidly bonds soluble copper to active sites throughout the media

• Constant chemisorption kinetics in a wide variety of water qualities and applications, making the media effective over a broad temperature range

• Media is not regenerable. Typically passes TCLP and CA WET tests for non-hazard disposal options

• Long Media life minimizes change-out costs
